The list exists for three things: screenings of My Refugee Journey as they are confirmed, exhibitions and talks, and the occasional note from the community work in Dandenong. Nothing else goes out on it.

Addresses are used for this list alone, never sold or shared. Every email carries an unsubscribe link.

What you would have received

The last four notes, exactly as published

  1. Speaking

Tampa: The Turning Point, 25 years on

A sold-out screening and panel at Cinema Nova marked the 25th anniversary of the Tampa crisis, with the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre. Batoor spoke on the panel about what has changed for people arriving by sea, and what has not.

  2. Photography

The Premier's Multicultural Gala photo exhibition

Batoor selected the photographs for this year's exhibition at the Premier's Multicultural Gala Dinner in Melbourne and exhibited as one of the artists.

  3. Community

    1,500 households counted as Hazara

Volunteers from the Hazara Cultural Association helped more than 1,500 households complete the 2026 Census with Hazara as ancestry and Hazaragi as language, so the community is counted as it names itself.

  4. Film

My Refugee Journey: filming complete, the edit begins

360 Degree Films reports two filming blocks complete and editing under way with Steven Robinson ASE. Kasimir Burgess has joined Batoor as co-director. Bonsai Films will distribute in Australia and New Zealand.

Every note is kept in Journal, and the archive of them is also an Atom feed if you would rather not give an email address at all.
